Logo of the Conference

The logo of the Conference is a denarius, found during archaeological excavations on the Wawel Royal Castle. The coin was issued during the reign of King Wladislaw Herman (c.1079 - 1102). The obverse of the coin shows the King himself, the reverse: a church with three towers and the inscription "C-R-A-C-O-V".


 



Wladislaw Herman (c.1041-1102)

Duke of Poland, was a son of Kazimierz I the Restorer and brother of Bolesław II the Bold, King of Poland. He took the Polish throne in 1079 when Boleslaus II died, but resigned the royal title and supported Henry IV in a bid to restore peace.

    
 

The Romanesque stone church in Inowlodz was built in 1082 on the orders of  Wladislaw Herman.
