Ojców National Park is one more site in Poland to be included in the UNESCO’s list of World Heritage. It is the smallest national park in Poland since it covers only 1,440 hectares in the Pr±dnik Valley. Tourists can see there virtually all of the natural components of a Jurassic landscape. The scenic river valley with 60 meter high slopes is dotted with fantastic lime rock formations, some as tall as 50 m or  even more. There are also about 220 caves, often easily accessible, where numerous species of bats live.

Beginnings of nature conservation in the area go back to 1924. The Ojców National Park was established on the initiative of Prof. W. Szafer. The Prof. W. Szafer Museum was opened in 1965 and houses a rich collection of numerous objects from the Park.

Participants will visit the Prof. W. Szafer Museum, some caves and the ruins of the medieval Ojców and Pieskowa Skała castle, now a museum of historical interiors.

The Pieskowa Skała Castle is called a "pearl of the Polish Renaissance". Since 1970, it has been home to an European art museum, a branch of the Cracow's Wawel Royal Castle.

On the UNESCO's list of World Heritage, the Wieliczka salt mine (13th century) is one of the oldest world's mining sites still in uninterrupted operation. The underground tourist route leads through a labyrinth of galleries and caves with unique sculptures, all carved in rock salt. St Kinga's Chapel at the depth of 101 meters is the most beautiful chamber decorated with white crystal salt chandeliers and bas-relief sculptures carved in grey salt. There is even an underground health spa. The museum display shows mining tools and documents related to the mine’s history.

12h00 - Departure for Bochnia

12h30 - Visit of Bochnia salt mine

The salt mine in Bochnia (13th century) is one of the world's oldest.
In recent years, the extraction of salt has been discontinued due to the exhaustion of the deposit. In accordance with a decision of 1990, the underground workings are to be duly secured, after which the mine will go into liquidation as an enterprise. This does not mean its physical liquidation.

The oldest and the most interesting parts of the mine - those which have been given conservation protection since December 11, 1981 - will be preserved. Some of the workings have been appropriately adapted and are now open to the public; the largest of the preserved chambers has been converted into a sanatorium.

The 2.5 kilometres tourist route runs at the depth of 290 meters. The mine's largest cavern, the Ważyn chamber, has facilities for recreation and health treatment services.
